Vuelta a Espana 2025 - Prediction stage 5

Wednes day August 27 2025: Stage 5 - Figueres > Figueres (24.1 km, TTT) 

The fifth stage of the 2025 Vuelta a España will take place on Wednesday, August 27th, in and around Figueres, Catalonia. A 24.1-kilometer team time trial is scheduled for this day. The course is almost entirely flat and has only about 86 to 100 meters of elevation gain, making it a true test of strength between the teams.

The route begins and ends in Figueres, known as the birthplace of Salvador Dalí. The first twelve kilometers run north out of the city, after which the teams return south towards the center after the turning point. The entire route is straightforward with few technical sections, making it ideal for powerful, fast-paced rides without many delays.

The final kilometer climbs slightly, with a gradient of about four percent, providing an extra test after the high pace along the way. This makes it crucial for teams to distribute their strength effectively: the strongest riders must be able to take long turns at the front, while everyone must stay with the pack as long as possible to avoid losing time in the general classification.

Regarding the scenarios: significant time gaps are possible, especially between the top teams and those with less time trial talent. The race will be strictly determined by the teams, particularly those with GC ambitions. Because the course presents few technical difficulties, it's primarily a day for pure power and team cohesion. There's a chance that some teams will be left behind, which will directly impact the general classification.
