Friday July 12th 2025: Stage 8 - Saint-Méen-le-Grand – Laval (171.4 km, sprint)

The eighth stage is a transition stage that takes the peloton from Saint-Méen-le-Grand to Laval. The profile is relatively flat, with only a few rolling sections that will have little impact on the course of the race. This is a day that the sprinter teams have set their sights on, because there is a big chance of a bunch sprint. However, the riders must remain alert: the course takes in narrow, winding roads and the wind can cause echelons on the open sections.

After the start, there are a few small climbs that mainly serve to form the early breakaway. However, the peloton will not give much room, because the sprinters do not want to miss this opportunity. There are few obstacles in the final: the last kilometres towards Laval are wide and clear, ideal for a fast final sprint. The GC riders will mainly try to stay out of trouble, while the sprinter teams fight for the best position. The finish in Laval is slightly downhill, which will increase the speed even further. Expect a lightning-fast sprint where timing and positioning are key. For the sprinters, this is one of the few opportunities in this Tour, so the battle for the wheel will be fierce.
