Saturday July 13th 2025: Stage 9 - Chinon – Châteauroux (174.1 km, sprint)
The ninth stage is another flat stage, this time from Chinon to Châteauroux. This is a classic sprinter stage, with wide, straight roads and a course that invites high speeds. After the start in historic Chinon, the peloton heads southeast through the Loire region, known for its castles and vast fields. There are hardly any obstacles worth mentioning along the way: only a few small hills in the first part of the stage, after which the course becomes completely flat.
The expectation is that the sprinter teams will keep a firm grip on control and not give the early breakaway a chance. In the run-up to Châteauroux, the roads become wider and the nervousness increases. The last kilometers are straight, with a wide finish street where the sprinters can reach their top speed. The arrival in Châteauroux is popular with fast men: in the past, several legendary sprints have been decided here. This day will not change much for the classification, unless there are crashes or echelons. The sprinters will do everything they can to win here, because after this stage the peloton will face the first tough mountain stages of this Tour.
