Thursday July 11th 2025: Stage 7 - Saint-Malo – Mûr-de-Bretagne (197 km, punchy)

The seventh stage takes the peloton from the port city of Saint-Malo to the iconic Mûr-de-Bretagne: a double passage guarantees a great race. The seventh stage takes the peloton from the port city of Saint-Malo to the iconic Mûr-de-Bretagne. This is a stage that is full of tradition and excitement, as the double passage over the Mûr-de-Bretagne guarantees spectacle. The route takes the riders through the rolling Breton countryside, where the wind often plays a role and the roads are narrow and winding. Several smaller climbs are conquered early in the stage, which means that the peloton never really has a chance to rest. This is a typical day in which escapees hope for their chance, but the GC teams will not relinquish control easily.

The finale is built entirely around the Mûr-de-Bretagne, a 2-kilometre climb with an average gradient of 6.9%, but with sections that rise to over 10%. The first passage over this wall will already pull the peloton into echelons and force the favourites to the front. After a short descent and a loop through the surrounding countryside, the second and decisive climb follows. Here the battle between the punchers and the GC riders breaks out, because the explosive finish is a golden opportunity to gain or lose time. The final meters are steep and straight, so it comes down to pure power and timing. The winner of the day can prepare for a day in yellow, while the Tour can already get its first selection among the favorites here.
