Sunday July 20th 2025: Stage 15 - Muret – Carcassonne (169.3 km, hilly)

After three grueling mountain stages, the riders will be presented with a relatively mild course from Muret to Carcassonne in the fifteenth stage. However, it is not a sprinter's stage: the profile is undulating, with a number of short, tough climbs spread out over the stage. The first half of the stage takes you over undulating roads, where strong attackers can seize their chance. The peloton will be vigilant, however, because the sprinters who have survived the hard work in the mountains want to seize their chance here.

The second half of the stage is challenging, with the Pas du Sant (2.9 km at 10.2%) as the biggest challenge for the fast men. The finale is technical, with a few sharp bends and a slightly ascending finish straight. This makes it difficult for the pure sprinters to reach their top speed, which means that strong classic riders and attackers smell their chance here. In the past, sprints were often held in Carcassonne, but a late attack or battle between hill-top riders is certainly a possibility.

The GC riders will mainly try to stay out of trouble and not take unnecessary risks. For the sprinters, this is one of the last chances in this Tour, so the battle for the wheel will be fierce. The arrival in Carcassonne is always spectacular and can provide surprises, especially after the gruelling Pyrenees stages.
