Tuesday May 19th – Giro d’Italia 2026 stage 10: Modena → Bologna (42 km ITT)
The only individual time trial of this Giro covers 42 kilometres between Modena and Bologna. The route is entirely flat and follows long, straight roads, favouring riders who can sustain high power without interruption. With no climbs and minimal changes in direction, the stage offers a clear opportunity for time trial specialists to gain time in the general classification.
The opening section leaves Modena on broad, regular roads. The course passes through Castelfranco Emilia and continues toward Anzola dell’Emilia. The terrain remains uniform, with gentle bends and a consistent road surface that allows riders to hold an aerodynamic position for extended periods.
The second half of the route maintains the same characteristics. As the race approaches Bologna, the profile stays flat and the roads remain wide. The final kilometres enter the outskirts of the city before finishing on a straight line that does not alter the rhythm of the effort.
The length of the stage and the absence of elevation changes favour pure time trial specialists and strong all‑rounders. ITT-specialist will take this opportunity, while climbers will aim to limit losses ahead of the mountain stages that follow. Stage 10 is likely to produce some of the most significant time gaps of the first two weeks.
