The eighteenth stage of the 2025 Vuelta a España on Thursday, September 11th, is a 12.2-kilometer individual time trial, starting and finishing in Valladolid. This stage is one of the key stages for the general classification in the final week, with a virtually flat course that is particularly suitable for true speed riders and time trialists.

The time trial course consists of a technically winding first section and a short climb of approximately 700 meters at 5.6% after six kilometers. This is followed by a long, straight stretch on wide roads without many obstacles, ideal for riders who maintain consistent power. After the turning point in the southern outskirts of Valladolid, the course takes the riders back to the city center via Parquesol, where the finish line is on the wide Paseo Zorrilla. The time trial's profile is very similar to that of previous Vuelta editions, when specialists like Filippo Ganna also made their mark.

This time trial is expected to make a big difference in the overall standings. Time trialists have an excellent opportunity to gain seconds, while GC contenders will have to secure their position. Due to its location just before the final weekend and the strong focus on aerodynamics and a fast pace, this stage is expected to be among the fastest of the Tour. Strategic deployment of power, equipment selection, and focus will be crucial in this all-important time trial.
