The prologue of the NIBC Tour of Holland marks the festive start of this new Dutch stage race. On Tuesday evening, October 14th, The Hague will be completely dominated by cycling, with Zuiderpark serving as the beating heart of the city for riders and spectators. The prologue begins at 7:00 PM and consists of a 4.28-kilometer time trial, where participants will test their strength on a short, flat, and fast course through the city park.

The course leads the riders north from the Zuiderpark Sports Campus, followed by a northwesterly loop, and finally back to the starting point. Part of the route is even crossed twice, including at the iconic Golden Earring Bridge, considered by experts to be the prime spot to admire the riders' maximum speed and technical skill. Due to the short length and fast corners, the time differences are generally minimal, resulting in a nerve-wracking battle where only fractions of a second can make the difference.
