Friday July 25th 2025: Stage 19 - Albertville – La Plagne (130 km, mountain top-finish)

The nineteenth stage is relatively short, but not less challenging. The peloton heads from Albertville to the ski resort of La Plagne, a finish that guarantees a spectacle. The route includes several climbs, but the focus is on the final climb: 17.1 kilometers at an average gradient of 7.6%. This climb is long, steady, and grueling, with few opportunities for recovery.

The first half of the stage features several tough climbs (Col des Saisies, Col du Pré, and Cormet de Roselend) where attackers can make their move. However, the peloton won't give much room, as the GC riders don't want to take any risks so close to the end of the Tour. The final climb to La Plagne is a true war of attrition, where the pace is often high and gaps can quickly widen. The Tour peloton will climb this climb for the first time since 2002, when Michael Boogerd heroically triumphed after a 93-kilometer solo.

The day's scenario will depend on the race situation and the overall standings after stage 18: attackers could attempt a stage win in the early breakaway, but the favorites for the yellow jersey will certainly test each other here. The finish in La Plagne is heroic and offers a magnificent backdrop for a regal stage. This is where the overall standings will finally be decided, and the Tour de France can be decided.
