Monday March 9th until Sunday March 15th 2026 - Tirreno Adriatico 2026
The 2026 Tirreno-Adriatico starts Monday on the Tyrrhenian coast and, as tradition dictates, finishes a week later by the Adriatic Sea. Over seven days the riders will cover nearly 1,200 kilometers and climb more than 16,000 vertical meters. There is no true mountain stage this year, yet the week promises to be anything but easy. Climbers, puncheurs and time trial specialists will each find moments to shine in a race that once again rewards riders with a wide range of abilities.
The opening day brings immediate tension with a perfectly flat individual time trial of 11.5 kilometers in Lido di Camaiore. With barely any elevation to speak of, specialists can gain valuable seconds in the first test. Stage two covers 206 kilometers from Cascina to Follonica and begins on flat roads before finishing with a final uphill kilometer at an eight percent gradient, a finale tailor-made for explosive finishers. Those who survive day three face the longest stage of the race, a 225‑kilometer journey to Foligno. The profile looks friendly but the distance and pace will take their toll, and it should offer the best opportunity for the sprinters to fight for a mass finish.
On Thursday the peloton travels from Todi to Chieti across two long climbs and four shorter ones. A final ascent of 1.6 kilometers at 8.4 percent is followed by a ten‑kilometer descent that will reward bold attackers willing to take risks. Friday brings the famous Tappa dei Muri, a relentless 186‑kilometer route with 3,900 meters of climbing that evokes the rhythm of Liège–Bastogne–Liège. The last climb, 4.2 kilometers at 6.2 percent, crests two kilometers from the finish and provides a springboard for anyone still holding something in reserve.
Stage six, from Montelupone to Monte San Vicino, is likely to decide the general classification. After an early long ascent the riders tackle a rolling circuit and a demanding final climb of 3.2 kilometers at an average of 8.9 percent. This is where the blue leader’s jersey and perhaps the final victory will change shoulders.
The final day in San Benedetto del Tronto remains a sprinters’ celebration. Over 143 flat kilometers along the Adriatic coast, Jonathan Milan, a double winner on this finish, starts again as the main favorite. Without high mountain stages this edition will be a battle of seconds between time trialists who can climb and climbers who can race the clock. Consistency and opportunism will determine who is crowned the new king between the two seas on Sunday.

Sunday March 15th 2026 - Tirreno-Adriatico 2026 stage 7: Civitanova Marche - San Benedetto del Tronto (143 km)
On Sunday, March 15, San Benedetto del Tronto once again hosts the traditional closing stage of Tirreno–Adriatico. The riders face 143 kilometres and roughly 1,100 metres of climbing, most of which comes in the first half of the stage, before the sprinters’ teams restore order on the flat run back to the coast.
After a 25-kilometre flat opening, the peloton tackles the climb to Montefiore dell’Aso (10.9 km at 3.4%), followed quickly by the steeper ascent to Ripatransone (8.5 km at 4.6%). From there, a fast descent leads towards the Adriatic, where the finale unfolds over a pancake-flat circuit of 14.5 kilometres, to be covered five times.
The course closely resembles that of previous editions, with only minor changes in the approach roads. That likely means another sprint showdown in San Benedetto del Tronto. Jonathan Milan claimed victory here in both 2024 and 2025, following in the footsteps of Jasper Philipsen (2023) and Phil Bauhaus (2022). Once again, everything points towards a high-speed battle between the pure sprinters on Italy’s Adriatic coast.
