Riders with a mix of power, stamina, and handling skills tend to thrive on a course like this, where repeated accelerations and technical sectors wear down the bunch. Still, strong winds or rain could completely alter the picture, encouraging early attacks and splitting the peloton into scattered groups long before the finale.
Though technically a Walloon race, the Samyn carries the spirit of the Flemish spring: tense, relentless, and unpredictable. And for whoever crosses the line first in Dour, it’s a clear sign that the classics season has begun.
