Sunday April 5th 2026: Ronde van Vlaanderen WE - Oudenaarde-Oudenaarde (164 km) 

The Tour of Flanders for women once again forms one of the absolute highlights of the spring. In this edition too, the peloton faces a typical Flemish course with a mix of a relatively calm opening, short and steep climbs, and treacherous cobbled sectors, giving both attackers and strong punchers a chance.

After the start on the market in Oudenaarde, there follows a short but tough opening phase over the cobbles of Lange Munte, after which the riders head towards Herzele and Zottegem. In this first part, an early breakaway usually forms, while the favourites sort out their teams and keep an eye on the leading group. The first cobbled sections and climbs already create tension and splits in the peloton.

As in previous years, the decisive part lies in the final 45 kilometres, where more than half of the nine climbs and six cobbled sectors are tackled. The Koppenberg, Oude Kruisberg/Hotond, Oude Kwaremont, and Paterberg come in quick succession and act as the ultimate selectors. The combination of the Oude Kwaremont and Paterberg, just before the final 13.2 kilometres to the finish on the Minderbroedersstraat, remains the classic place where the best riders pull clear.

In terms of scenarios, another powerful, short and explosive finale is the most likely. An attack on the Paterberg or the final passage of the Oude Kwaremont can be decisive, especially if the chasing group is poorly organised or if the favourites watch each other for too long. There is little room to recover, making timing and teamwork in the last 30 kilometres at least as important as pure strength.
