Wednesday April 1st 2026: Dwars door Vlaanderen - Roeselare-Waregem (184.6 km)

Dwars door Vlaanderen 2026 remains a typical Flemish spring classic: a race that really opens up from about halfway through. The race starts in Roeselare and finishes in Waregem over 185 kilometres, with seven cobbled sectors and twelve climbs, with the hardest part of the course concentrated in the kilometres south of Oudenaarde.

The route builds up calmly, but after the first climbs comes a chain of familiar names from the Flemish Ardennes: Hellestraat, Volkegemberg, Berg Ten Houte, Knokteberg-Trieu, Hotond, Eikenberg and, in the finale, Nokereberg. After that, there are still cobbled sections on the road to Waregem, with little room for recovery. That makes this more of a race for strong classics riders than for pure sprinters; positioning and race hardness are traditionally decisive.

The weather in Waregem is expected to be changeable and windy, with temperatures around 9 to 12 degrees and a strong southwesterly to westerly wind. Rain chances appear limited to light showers or drizzle, but the wind could still create nervous racing on the exposed sections.

Last year was a fiasco for Team Visma | Lease a Bike. Can Wout van Aert and company take the win this time?
